The Salus Center

Founded in 2017, the Salus Center's mission is to build and serve an inclusive 2SLGBTQIA+ community in the greater Lansing area.

Equality Michigan

Welcome to Equality Michigan (EQMI). EQMI is Michigan’s statewide lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) political advocacy organization. Formerly the Triangle Foundation, EQMI has been Michigan’s premiere LGBTQ+ anti-violence and political advocacy organization for over 25 years and counting.

This site’s primary goal is to connect victims of individual incidents of bias, discrimination, harassment, and violence, including intimate partner violence, to the support, referral, and navigational services they need to achieve justice.

Allen Neighborhood Center

Allen Neighborhood Center (ANC) serves as a dynamic hub where Lansing Eastside neighbors access resources to improve their health and well-being; expand their capacity to seize job and entrepreneurial opportunities; create a strong sense of place, belonging, and community pride; and build a safe, sustainable, and thriving neighborhood.

Since 1999, ANC has pioneered programs in health education and outreach, housing improvement, food security and nutrition education, youth development, commercial corridor revitalization, and social capital building. We do all of this with the generous support of the engaged and unique Eastside community.

CARE

The Polarization & Extremism Research & Innovation Lab (PERIL) and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) are partnering to launch Community Advisory, Resource and Education (CARE) Centers in Michigan and Georgia. Modeled after the German mobile advisory units, CARE Centers will provide on-site trainings, support and resources to those impacted by hate, discrimination and supremacist ideologies, as well as target groups susceptible to radicalization.

By creating local networks of practitioners and community experts, CARE Centers aim to identify specific community needs and will use a public health approach that prioritizes their well-being and resiliency to address harms caused by those holding extremist ideologies.

Sunrise Hub at MSU

The Sunrise Movement is a youth-led climate justice movement fighting against the corporations and billionaires that are stealing our futures. We believe everyone should have access to clear air and water, full pantries of food, affordable housing, free public transportation, good and meaningful jobs, vibrant community centers, and lives filled with joy. We’re building a movement to make that happen. At MSU, the Sunrise Movement is advocating for a Green New Deal for MSU, including pathways to green union jobs, livable campus wages, divestment from fossil fuels and weapons manufacturers, increased accessibility and inclusivity on campus, administrative democracy and transparency, and much more.

Hurriya Coalition

Our student group is an alliance of propalastine students who are pushing towards Michigan State University to stop their funding of Israel and weapons manufacturers. We’re pushing towards divestment. We demand MSU divest from genocide, protect international students and migrants and stand against Trump Administration.

Transforming MSU

The Transforming MSU Playwriting Fellowship invites MSU students to apply for a year-long experience in which fellows learn more about playwriting as a storytelling form and how it can activate liberatory transformation at MSU.

In its 5th year, the Playwriting Fellowship is a collaboration between Transforming Theatre Ensemble (TTE), the Department of Theatre, and the Office for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion to develop and present a series of short student-written plays meant to initiate dialogue, encourage collective problem-solving, and spark radical imagination. The plays will be used in educational workshops for students, faculty, staff and administrators at MSU.

MSU Transaction

TransAction aims to be a resource for trans students at MSUTransAction, and we welcome the beautiful trans community at MSU through serious discussions, light-hearted events, and advocacy work. Tender Heart Gardens

Tender Heart Gardens is a queer and trans growing collective, founded in 2017. We began growing on city lots leased from the Ingham County Land Bank on Lansing’s Eastside. We are currently growing in the Urbandale floodplain, on a 1/3 acre parcel of land on South Foster. In 2023, thanks to donations from members and friends, we were finally able to purchase the lot on which we grow, ensuring that we can continue working in relationship with this place far into the future.

THG now operates as a collaborative on different projects with a shared vision, coordinated by a volunteer planning team. We are also a registered community garden with the Greater Lansing Food Bank’s Garden Project.

Justice League of Greater Lansing

The Justice League of Greater Lansing Michigan aims to address the impact of slavery, fostering relationships and reparations to boost wealth equity for African Americans in Lansing. We link faith with racial justice, promoting healing and unity.
