Prayer for Strength in the Love of Chosen Family by Djinn Thompson
O mighty gods who weave the fates of kin and heart, hear us now!
Oh noble ancestors who stand at our backs, from your varied homes, we call you near.
Not by womb water are we bound to each other, but by choice, by honor, queer love our shared mother.
As Frejya forged her Volva wand in fire and steel, so too have we forged our family—
Not by birth are we joined, but by the bonds of trust, unshaken as the roots of Yggdrasil.
O Thor, grant us the strength to stand together in storm and strife.
O Frigg, bless our hearth with warmth, laughter, and wisdom.
O Tyr, guide our hands to uphold each other in times of trial.
O Freyja, let love flow between us, fierce as a shield-wall, soft as spring’s first bloom.
When sorrow weighs heavy upon our shoulders, may we let our siblings bear the load.
When fear grips our hearts, may the courage of our kin drive it out.
When we stumble upon the path, let us reach for their hands to lift us, steady and true.
For though the blood in our veins may be different, the fire in our souls is the same.
We call upon those who walked before us, the mighty ancestors of our line.
Blood-bound or heart-bound, they stand behind us, a legion unseen.
Their wisdom shields us, their courage steels us, their love wraps around us like a cloak of iron.
As they stood unshaken in their time, so shall we stand in ours.
As the Enaree rode steeds into glorious battle, so too does our Subaru carry us, ride or die, cause united.
Together, we feast. Together, we fight. Together, we rise.
And should the fates part us in this life, our spirits shall find each other in Freya’s field.
In our shared Seat Room at the end of the kite string, there we can never be torn asunder.
By the strength of our chosen kin, we endure. By love, we prevail.
By the courage of our ancestors, we are never alone.
So it is, so it always has been, so may it remain.
